Golden Milk

Golden milk.
At every wellness retreat, and on cold winter nights, #goldenmilk is always one of my absolute favorite mainstays: to make, to serve, to share.

And without further ado, here’s my recipe:
Full fat Coconut milk
Almond milk or rice milk (organic/sugar free)
Ginger (fresh)
Turmeric (organic powder)
Cloves
Cinnamon
Cayenne pepper
Black pepper
Sweetener (I usually use date syrup, agave or maple syrup)
Instructions:
Peel and slice the ginger and place in the coconut milk. Bring to a boil In a medium pot. Turn the heat down and let simmer for 10 minutes. Allow the ginger to steep for a couple of hours. (I normally prepare this bit early on in the day- if you have fresh turmeric steep the turmeric with the ginger) and when you’re about ready to drink, add the other milks, cloves, turmeric powder, cinnamon and peppers and boil over medium heat for 10-15 minutes. Turn the heat off and add the sweetener. Strain. Adjust elements to tastes
I promise you’ll love it.
Also- remember to always add black pepper and some kind of fat (this is what the coconut milk is good for) in order for the body to absorb the turmeric for its incredible #antiinflammatory benefits.
